APPRENTICE PROGRAM

In the summer of 2017, young women were invited to apply, by invitation only, to Daughters of Troy’s first Apprentice Company. They were coached, as part of a week long residency on Governors Island, as theatre makers in collaboration with visual artists. Apprentices selected were each paired with a mentor, all with teaching experience and Master of Fine Arts degrees from leading Universities including NYU, the University of Central Florida and The Old Globe/USD. The week culminated with 8 public performances in which the apprentices' work was showcased alongside the professional company members.

After the success of the summer, Daughters of Troy implemented a year long apprentice program, in which apprentices are invited to train along side the professional company as theatre makers. Each Apprentice is also paired with a Professional Artist in their field who has a personal stake in their artistic growth.
